On May 3rd the Tug Valley Bass Anglers held its Third tournament of the 2009 season on Carr Fork Lake.

Carr Fork was in good shape this weekend. Rains earlier this past week stained up part of the lake but everything was mostly stable.

The water temperature was good for this time of year, with about 68 degrees all day long. The water was lightly stained in the upper end of the lake and clear near the dam.

Weather for the tournament was not for the fair weather fishermen, it rained all day long. A cold front was moving in and the air temperature remained cool all day at about 65 degrees.

The fish were in late prespawn and early spawn patterns and locations. Most of the fish were around flatter banks. Some fish were on the beds but I think most of them were just roaming the flats waiting for the full moon this weekend. A big wave will go on the beds this week and next.

The main pattern for this tournament was to fish small soft plastics and crankbaits near spawning flats and shallower banks.

2nd--Brandon Staten --- (2 fish) 5.64 lbs.

3rd--Cory Hamilton --- (2 fish) 4.75 lbs.

4th--POP --- (1 fish) 4.03 lbs. Big Bass

5th--Lacy Edmiston --- (1 fish) 3.36 lbs.

6th--Don Taylor --- (1 fish) 3.20 lbs.

7th--Jordan Kiser --- (1 fish) 3.04 lbs.

8th--MO --- (1 fish) 2.23 lbs.

9th--Mitch Salmons --- (1 fish) 2.20 lbs.

10th--Brad May --- (1 fish) 2.06 lbs.

11th--James Riley --- (1 fish) 1.48 lbs.
