On May 15th the Tug Valley Bass Anglers held its third tournament of the 2011 season on Paintsville Lake. There was a great turn out, 23 anglers competed in the event.

Paintsville Lake was about 3 feet above summer pool and was being drawn about one foot per day. The water was clear on the lower end of the lake and became more stained toward the backend with a temperature of 71 degrees.

Weather for the tournament was good with mostly cloudy skies, light rain, moderate winds and an air temperature around 60 degrees..

The fishing was fair, I suspect the lake level being pulled down had the fish a little messed up. The fish were caught in 2 to 8 feet of water on the main lake as well as in the creeks. The fish were more active in the morning up to about noon, after that they tucked in to cover and wouldn't really chase anything.

The main pattern for this tournament was to fish moving baits while the fish were active, topwater, spinnerbaits and crankbaits were reported as the top producers. After noon pitching or flipping soft plastics to shallow wood cover was the ticket after the bass became inactive.

Total weight caught was 61.10 lbs.

8th --Johnny Webb --- (5 fish) 2.73 lbs.

9th --Joe Collins --- (5 fish) 2.72 lbs.

10th --Lynn Fields --- (5 fish) 2.71 lbs.
