"Tug Valley Bass Anglers Cave Run Lake Tournament

On June 19th the Tug Valley Bass Anglers held its forth tournament of the 2011 season on Cave Run Lake. 22 anglers competed in the event.

Cave Run Lake was about 6" above summer pool and had been drawn about one foot per day for two weeks. The water was clear to lightly stained on the entire lake with a temperature of around 80

degrees.

Weather for the tournament was good with mostly cloudy skies, heavy rain at times, moderate winds and an air temperature around 80 degrees..

The fishing was outstanding, we all thought it would be a terrible tournament with the lake level

being pulled down like it had been but that seemed to position the fish to feed rather than hurt the bite. The fish were caught in 2 to 8 feet of water on the main lake as well as in the pockets. The fish were more active during the storms, but really they bit good all day.

The main pattern for this tournament was to fish shad colored crankbaits on rocky points and banks. Other top producers were topwater lures and small worms mostly "shaky head". Total fish weighed in was 108.30 lbs.

6th --Keith Pacific--- (5 fish) 6.57 lbs.

7th --Joe Collins --- (5 fish) 6.20 lbs.

8th --Brandon Staten --- (5 fish) 5.92 lbs.

9th --Shawn Williamson --- (5 fish) 5.15 lbs.

10th --Greg Maynard --- (5 fish) 4.57 lbs.
