Cawood Ledford Legendary VOICE of the BIG BLUE.

The Legendary Cawood Ledford a native Kentuckian began calling
the play by play of the Kentucky games in 1953.
In addition to giving the play by play of the Kentucky games
Cawood has called the Kentucky Derby, Heavyweight Boxing Championship, The Masters Golf Tournament, The World Series, and the Final 4.
Cawood has been honored as Kentucky's Sportscaster of the year
22 times and named to the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame.
Last but not least In 1991 Cawood had his honorary jersey
retired in Rupp Arena making him the only person other than
a coach or player to receive that honor.

Reporters asked Cawood about calling his final game. Cawood's response at his farewell speech, "I didn't have the heart to tell them that I really broadcast my final game last week." referring to Kentucky's loss to Duke in the 1992 NCAA Tournament. Even though he still had the championship game to call. That response truly showed how much he loved The University of Kentucky.

"From Rupp Arena in downtown Lexington, this is Cawood Ledford saying thanks to each of you from the bottom of my heart for letting me share this great 39 years. Till we meet again, good bye."
